Ismail Haniyeh: Gaza paid a dear price to free prisoners

GAZA (SaebPress) the Palestinian PM Ismail Haniyeh said “the people of Gaza paid a dear price to free prisoners”.

“Our people today will harvest the fruit of one destination of Jihad and steadfastness. Gaza has paid a dear price of blood, martyrs and suffering from actions the occupation carried out under the cover of freeing Shalit,” Haniyeh told a crowd of people in Gaza today.

“The great Palestinian people paid that price to free the prisoners since we believe that the value of man stems from the importance of the homeland.” PM Haniyeh added.

There are at least 6,000 Palestinian prisoners in ‘Israeli’ jails. They are regarded as heroes in their struggle against ‘Israeli’ occupation and quest for statehood.  Around 1,027 Palestinian prisoners will be released in exchange for ‘Israeli’ soldier Gilad Shalit, who was seized by the Palestinian resistance in a cross-border ambush in 2006. The prisoner swap is set to take place on 18th of Oct.

The transfer of some 450 Palestinian prisoners will begin on Tuesday

Meanwhile Abu Mujahed, the Spokesperson of the Popular Resistance Committees said  on Thursday that “as soon as the detainees are released, officials will check each one to make sure they are among those listed in the deal. Once the prisoners are checked, the factions holding Shalit will release him too”. Abu Mujahed indicated that the transfer of some 450 Palestinian prisoners will begin on Tuesday.
