President Ahmadinejad: US used 9/11 as pretext to wage wars

SaebPress TEHRAN- Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday the United States used the September 11, 2001 attacks as game and a pretext for the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan which led to huge human losses.

“This incident was a complicated game planned to influence the emotions of the human community and  a pretext for attacking Islamic regions and invading Iraq and Afghanistan, and cause more than one million people to lose their lives or get wounded,” Ahmadinejad said on Sunday.

The President made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the fifth summit of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly in the capital Tehran, Mehr news agency reported.

In June, during a counter-terrorism summit in Tehran, President Ahmadinejad said that “the American government used the attacks as a pretext to occupy two countries, and kill, injure and displace people in the region.”

In September 2010  in his speech at the United Nations — four miles from where the World Trade Centre used to be –President Ahmadinejad said that “some people within the US government orchestrated the attacks to reverse the declining American economy.”

And in March 2010 he called the 9/11 attacks ‘a big lie’.
