Gaza (SaebPress) — Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated on Friday in protest against the fuel crisis facing the besieged Gaza Strip. The demonstrators staged large protests after Friday Prayers, they called on Egypt to resume the flow of fuel to Gaza.

In February, Egypt choked the flow of diesel through the tunnels lying beneath its border with Gaza, which are transferring needed supplies into the besieged Gaza Strip.

The stoppage paralysed the only war surviving  Gaza’s electricity power plant out of work, causing the Palestinians  to deal with blackouts of up to 18 hours a day, ‘’life stopped in Gaza  because of that” a teacher informed SaebPress.

Egyptian officials ‘plot’ against Gaza

Ismail Haniyeh the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza described to the rallying masses that “the decision by Egyptian officials ‘plot’ against the Palestinian people of Gaza”.

Meanwhile, during the rally, Musheer al-Masri a senior Hamas official criticized the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority for being an ally of ‘Israel’. Musheer al-Masri told the crowd that “the PA is an ally of the occupation as it makes agreements with Israel and arranges security coordination with its government”. He added.

However, al-Masri added that “Israel holds full responsibility for the “suffering of the Palestinian people, migration, the killing of innocents, Judaizing Jerusalem, settlements and the blockade,… the occupation is the problem in the region and the world won’t settle until the occupation is gone,” al-Masri said.

Gaza has been under full-scale land, aerial, and naval ‘Israeli’ siege since 2007, turning the Gaza Strip into the world’s largest open-air prison, and inflecting unprecedented levels suffering and unrelenting poverty on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
