US, ‘Israel’ behind Yemen’s claims against Iran: Saeb Shaath

An analyst says Yemen is run by America’s CIA and Saudi Arabia and implicating Iran in smuggling weapons while drones bomb Yemenis is just demonization and threat.

In the background of this the Yemeni government has asked the United Nations to probe a ship it claims contained Iran-made weapons thereby accusing Iran of smuggling arms into Yemen. The Yemeni government in it’s United Nations application could confirm the weapons were Iranian. Iran has denied that it is meddling in Yemen’s domestic affairs. Meanwhile the US has intensified drone strikes in Yemen sparking fear among the Yemeni residents. The Yemeni government has approved these drone attacks.

Press TV has interviewed Saeb Shaath, author and Middle East expert, about this issue. The following is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Why do you think the Yemeni government is accusing Iran of smuggling weapons into Yemen?

Shaath: Remember that such accusations they come from Hadi’s government who were hand picked by the US and Saudi Arabia to replace a tyrant who were rejected by the people Ali Abdullah Saleh. The US guaranteed in that way the continuation of the cooperation of the Yemeni Hadi’s government to serve the United States of America’s agenda and that of Saudi Arabia.

Here if I want to link this to other events actually happening lately where they are trying to implicate Iran and they have many Western and imperialist Zionists plots at work across the globe as I see it. You have the Argentinean attack, the Bulgaria attack in which they tried to implicate Hezbollah and so with Iran and you have other things as well.

This accusation against Iran comes as the US intensifies its drone attacks in Yemen and intensifies its Hops to open negotiations with the Iranian leadership so in that way it can influence the slowing down…the growth of Iran [Industrial progress] Imam Ali Khamenei closed the door on direct nuclear talks offered by, what’s his name, Joe Biden the vice president of the United States. Khamenei said the US they want talks, but it doesn’t solve anything these talks… And he continued saying you are holding a gun against Iran and the Iranian nation will not be frightened by threats.

The threats as we can see from here, the Yemeni ship comes, they try to frame Iran and implicate Iran as the one who is smuggling weapons into Yemen and what we know from the 1960s whom causing all the trouble in Yemen is Saudi Arabia with its British and Israeli friends. And now Saudi Arabia with the CIA are trying to keep the country destabilized and accuse Iran of interfering there.

All of that because the West and Israel became so desperate they want to slow down this industrial and scientific progress taking place in Iran, in a country that is militarily powerful and they cannot attack. Commenting to PressTV on Saudi Arabia’s attack on Sana’a International Airport, author and commentator Saeb Shaath said ”Saudi Arabia’s actions destroy neighbours’ trust and destabilize the region”.

Yemen’s Foreign Ministry in Sana’a has condemned Saudi Arabia’s attack on Sana’a International Airport, saying that the strike marks the end of the truce and the beginning of a new phase of war.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry declared that Yemen will enter a new stage to fully reclaim its rights, warning that Saudi Arabia will find itself in a major strategic deadlock and will bear high costs for its aggression.

Separately, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated that “the Saudi aggression will not go unpunished,” adding, “The Saudi enemy has ended the de-escalation phase, and must bear responsibility for all potential consequences.”

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport announced in a statement that “Saudi Arabia’s bombardment of Sana’a airport and violation of the Yemeni airspace signifies the Riyadh regime’s insistence, with Americans’ and Zionists’ push, to continue the siege.”

On March 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies initiated a blockade on Yemen, marking the beginning of a comprehensive war, backed with military, political, and logistical assistance from the United States and other Western countries.

The war has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people in Yemen, while failing to achieve its primary goal of reinstating the previous government that was aligned with Riyadh.

Amid a power struggle, the government fled the country, leading Yemen’s popular resistance movement, Ansarullah, to take charge of state affairs.

After a delicate ceasefire brokered by the UN in 2022, multiple rounds of significant attacks were launched against Yemen by the United States, Britain, and the Israeli regime.

The assaults aimed to weaken Sana’a’s ability to conduct solidarity strikes against Israeli targets, which were being conducted in response to Tel Aviv’s genocidal actions in the Gaza Strip.
